Watershedding Design Principles for below ground structures

$245.00 (inc GST)

In this course, you will learn about the watershedding design principles that are based on the simple notion of working with gravity to manage water around and in our buildings, principles that are often forgotten in the design and construction of below ground structures in the modern era.

The course looks at the natural processes of water flow, the interaction of gravity and water, the forces that are acting on water below ground, and the design details that are necessary to ensure that water is collected, redirected and drained so that it doesn’t cause harm.

To do this, we look at the British Standard Code of Practice BS 8102:2022. This is an excellent document that will increasingly be incorporated into architects and engineers drawings and specifications. This course takes a fresh look at the design inputs from hydrogeologist, Geotech engineers, structural engineers, hydraulic engineers and architects need to collaborate to manage water in and around below ground structures.

The course is for:

  • Building designers: developers, architects, builders, structural engineers, hydraulic engineers, Geotech engineers, waterproofing product suppliers, waterproofing contractors, remedial contractors
  • Building owners: strata committee members, strata managers and facility managers
  • Students: architecture, structural and civil engineering, construction management, landscape architecture, Geotech engineering

By the end of the course, you will have a comprehensive understanding of watershedding principles, practices, and practical application in construction projects. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the successful implementation of waterproofing measures and ensure the long-term durability of buildings.

As you work through the course, you will have the opportunity to answer some questions and progressively check your understanding. Complete the assessment quiz and the feedback activity to obtain your CPD certificate of completion.
