Site Inspections for Engineers

Site inspections can be one of the most rewarding, yet challenging, aspects of an engineer’s duties. On-site, abstract documentation and project processes are translated into physical form.

To be a successful inspection engineer, you need to be conscious of your responsibilities and adopt a methodological approach to responding to what happens on-site. You also need to maintain high standards of safety, design and compliance, and understand how to work towards the best outcome for all parties.

This course develops a general understanding of conducting a site inspection, and the on-site processes and key relationships involved. You’ll learn:

  • roles and responsibilities of site inspection engineers
  • contractual obligations and professional responsibilities around certification
  • strategies to communicate with on-site stakeholders including builders, construction managers and tradespeople
  • practical tips to solve problems when dealing with complexities and unfamiliar conditions on-site

Who should do this course?
Engineers and professionals involved in building and construction site inspections including services, structural and site inspection engineers. Participants must have two – five years’ experience.

As you work through the course you will have the opportunity to answer some questions and progressively check your understanding. Complete the assessment quiz and the feedback activity to obtain your CPD certificate of completion.

Duration: 2.5 hours
Delivery: Online (self-paced)
Access period: 6 months access from the day of enrolment

Can we purchase the course to host on our own LMS?

Participants are required to complete the course within the TAFE NSW LMS. There is currently no option available to host courses on external LMS platforms.

How do I purchase courses for my staff? (less than 10)

If you would like to purchase courses for your staff (less than 10), each participant will need to complete the checkout process separately (e.g. select the “ADD TO CART” button for the desired course or courses, and then continue through the checkout process). The participant’s details are to be entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section. The relevant credit card details can then be entered in the credit card payment section. The screenshot below shows an example of the checkout screen and where to enter this information.

The details entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section will be used to create an account for the participant. The participant will then receive a confirmation email with login instructions. If the course is a paid course, they will also receive an invoice for your records.

If the same PC or device is being used to process multiple orders, please ensure you are logged out after each order is complete.
