Introduction to reinforced concrete in multi-storey construction

Multi-storey construction will generally have several different types of concrete elements, each with a different method of construction and serving a different purpose. This course aims to reduce non-compliance notices and building work rectification orders related to concrete in multi-storey buildings by enhancing the ability of builders, supervisors, concrete supervisors and construction managers to interpret plans and execute work according to specified requirements.

On successful completion of this course, you should be able to:

  • Recognise the differences in work between single-storey and multi-storey construction, including additional regulatory requirements in some classes of buildings.
  • Interpret specifications and drawings in relation to executing concreting work according to the specified requirements for multi-storey buildings.
  • Identify best practice during site inspection and preparation work for pouring concrete on multi-storey buildings.
  • Better manage and supervise the sequence of work to pour concrete to minimise rework, errors in compliance with approved specifications and declared designs.

As you work through the course you will have the opportunity to progressively check your understanding and answer some questions at the end of each topic. Upon completion of the course, undertake the assessment quiz and the feedback activity to obtain your certificate of completion.

This course is aimed at builders, foremen, concrete foremen and construction managers transiting from class 1 construction to multi-storey construction.

Can we purchase the course to host on our own LMS?

Participants are required to complete the course within the TAFE NSW LMS. There is currently no option available to host courses on external LMS platforms.

How do I purchase courses for my staff? (less than 10)

If you would like to purchase courses for your staff (less than 10), each participant will need to complete the checkout process separately (e.g. select the “ADD TO CART” button for the desired course or courses, and then continue through the checkout process). The participant’s details are to be entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section. The relevant credit card details can then be entered in the credit card payment section. The screenshot below shows an example of the checkout screen and where to enter this information.

The details entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section will be used to create an account for the participant. The participant will then receive a confirmation email with login instructions. If the course is a paid course, they will also receive an invoice for your records.

If the same PC or device is being used to process multiple orders, please ensure you are logged out after each order is complete.
