Any community services worker who works with children and families is a mandatory reporter under child protection laws in NSW. This means that they are required to identify, and report concerns about child abuse to the NSW government.
This short-course will assist mandatory reporters to:
- understand their legal requirements as mandatory reporters under the child protection laws in NSW, and
- identify different types of abuse and neglect using the Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG), and
- use the Mandatory Reporter Guide (MRG) to assist them to determine if their concerns meet the threshold for reporting to the NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ)
