Certifier Corruption Prevention

Additional continuing professional development (CPD) requirements under clause 2 of Schedule 4 of the Building and Development Certifiers Regulation 2020 (B&DCR) requires this course to be taken by all certifiers within 12 months of certifier registration. Certifiers are a critical part of the building industry and are responsible for acting in the public interest. This course is designed to improve the knowledge of certifiers as public officials, addressing corruption, conflict of interest, risk assessment, and helping learners better understand corruption and conflict of interest legislation. Using real-world case studies and practice scenarios this course will equip certifiers with the ability to identify and proactively manage risks.

This course is aimed at all NSW registered certifiers.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the roles and responsibilities of certifiers as public officials.
  • Apply enhanced abilities and skills to perform the regulatory duties of a certifier effectively.
  • Exhibit improved behaviours and actions in executing certifiers’ duties.
  • Apply knowledge of relevant corruption and conflict of interest legislation to real-world scenarios.
  • Proactively identify and proficiently manage risks associated with conflicts of interest.
  • Demonstrate an elevated level of professional judgment and decision-making skills in the context of certification responsibilities.

As you work through the course you will have the opportunity to answer some questions and progressively check your understanding. Complete the assessment quiz and the feedback activity to obtain your CPD certificate of completion.

Participants are required to complete the course within the TAFE NSW LMS. There is currently no option available to host courses on external LMS platforms.

If you would like to purchase courses for your staff (less than 10), each participant will need to complete the checkout process separately (e.g. select the “ADD TO CART” button for the desired course or courses, and then continue through the checkout process). The participant’s details are to be entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section. The relevant credit card details can then be entered in the credit card payment section. The screenshot below shows an example of the checkout screen and where to enter this information.

The details entered in the “ACCOUNT DETAILS” section will be used to create an account for the participant. The participant will then receive a confirmation email with login instructions. If the course is a paid course, they will also receive an invoice for your records.

If the same PC or device is being used to process multiple orders, please ensure you are logged out after each order is complete.
