Course Overview

Do you take water from a river, creek or bore? Are you able to take that water under a basic landholder right? Do you know if you need any licences or approvals to take and use that water on your property? Where do I go to find out about any licences and approvals that may be needed? Can I excavate in or around creeks and rivers on my property? If you have asked any of these questions, then this course can help you find the answers.

The Natural Resources Access Regulator, or NRAR for short, is the NSW independent water regulator. Water is a community owned resource, and we need to ensure the NSW community has confidence water is being used lawfully. We recognise that the water regulation landscape can be complex and difficult to navigate at times, creating barriers that can prevent water users from complying with their lawful obligations. This course is designed to assist water users understand the water regulation framework and how it applies to them, helping to break down the barriers to compliance.
